No joke I could make here about the name 'Octopussy' is any funnier than their actual canonical explanation for it.
They're running low on former crown colonies to innoculate with International Nonce of Mystery James Bond, so finally they have blighted the doorstep of India.
Bond and some other boring white guy fight on the subcontinent and everybody else has to deal with it.

Octopussy is the silliest of the ”good” Bond films imo. Moonraker was really ridiculous and For Your Eyes only and the other later Moore films progressively duller, for me as a kid, due to the lack of the kewl gadgets. I wasn’t really into the romance stuff as a kid!
