Nobody reads these, but fun story about the the monorail: it was actually converted from a system of monorail-based automatic wheelbarrows used commonly on British building sites at the time. That’s why it’s so janky, it was designed to clip together like Scalextric and move bricks around a housing estate outside of Manchester, not to be spray-painted silver and used to ferry James bond around a volcano lair

Bond is actually being kinda smart by not killing blofeld. Think about it blofeld is a dumb prick his plans suck he never asks for much of a ransom and he kills his best people... by not killing him you leave the world much safer because you have an impotent reprobate in charge of what might otherwise be a semi dangerous orgonisation if it actually had good leadership or planning. The last thing you want is to send your best agent to actually kill him.

For a different, yet oddly entertaining take on the glitzy spy genre, watch 1967’s Deadlier Than The Male (free on YT). It was produced by Betty E Box with a relatively large budget. By no means a feminist film, it had a vastly different take on its female characters— specifically Elke Sommers and Sylva Koscina formed a red-hot two-babe death squad. They commanded almost as much screentime as protagonist Hugh Drummond, played by Richard Johnson.

I can't tell what brings me more joy on this pod. Devon losing their shit over Spector's newest loopy plan, the joy in Alice's voice when she's about to tell us the next bizarre thing the film's about to do or Abbie's delighted giggling at the absurdity unfolding. This pod is pure serotonin.
