Episode 26: Skyfall

We did it, boys. For 25.83 episodes the Double Dragons have tried in vain to secure guests. But for this most special 26th episode, we've only gone and fucking secured a guest appearance from Abigail Thorn, star of Philosophy Tube!

Skyfall is a movie ripping itself apart at the seams trying to be two wildly divergent things, and boy does it show. Also, for the final half hour the movie becomes Home Alone.

Episode 25.83: Mad Mission 3 (Our Man From Bond Street)

Alright let me initially make the case for this movie: This is the single biggest movie in Hong Kong at the height of the classic hong kong era of movies (the year 1984), and it parodies beats and characters from the bond movies.

 

Now, the anti point here is that uuuuuuh it's fucking impossible to find a non-illegal link to watch this movie because modern movie distribution companies are just that, companies. And someone in a fucking boardroom has made the decision that preserving movies like this simply isn't worth it.

 

So here's a podcast episode about a reasonably ok movie, largely to make a wider point about movie preservation.

Sorry, fixed the audio now. Well, it's finally happened. The Fearless and Unstoppable Abigail Thorn has been waylaid to a permanent end by a blonde secret agent called some shit like Samantha Strapon while trying to infiltrate a diamond smuggling ring.

Well, it's finally happened. we've talked about a movie for longer than the runtime of the movie.
We also bid goodbye to a beloved classic character, Mitchell from the movie Quantum of Solace. It's always so hard to lose them like this... I'd only just recovered from the untimely demise of 'the character Sharkey from the movie License to Kill', and now I have to deal with a whole other wave of pain. 

Also we invent the alternate universe Even Older Moore Bond film Moonpussy, so there's that.

And there's only one man who can possibly infiltrate the game and stop him (Due to, and im not kidding here, the reasoning 'someone said you're the best at poker at the office').... James Bond.

Alright frankly I consider this to be payback for the Casino Royale fakeout, and I think we should agree to call it even on this.

 

A few days ago, we reached a million downloads on Podbean. This is only really one app out of a few possible ones that listeners could use, but we decided to call this milestone and let you, the noble and loyal hogs, pick a movie, any movie, and we would review it. After over 400 replies, I picked the 12 highest voted and put them in 4 polls, the winners of which faced off in a final poll to determine that the winner would be.... the 2014 animated movie Penguins of Madagascar.
